Mr. David Fitch from West Winfield, NY
As a child living in Rochester, NY Dave Fitch spent his summers on a great-uncle’s farm in Sullivan County dreaming of one day owning his own farm. In 1960, his parents bought the farm where they began raising heifers and his dream came true in 1980 when he built a 45-cow dairy barn and started the Swisshill Farm. Fitch was extremely involved in their community where he served as a Farm Medic instructor in their county, as an officer, an EMT on their local ambulance corp., and as a director and member of the Sullivan County Farm Bureau. In 1990 he married his wife Robin and together they had two sons and a daughter. They moved their dairy operation to West Winfield, NY in 2007 where it has grown to 180 head. Their son, Justin, become actively involved on the farm and owns a few on his own cows. In 2009, Fitch became active with the Progressive Agriculture Organization trying to get a better price for milk to dairy farmers. Fitch looks forward to continuing these efforts by working with the National Dairy Producers Organization and winning this fight for all dairy farmers.

Mr. Robert Krucker from Jerome, ID
Robert Krucker and his wife Kathleen have owned and operated Long View Dairy in Jerome, Idaho since 1982. They milk around 1300 cows twice a day, and except for purchase of initial heifers when they started the business, the Kruckers have always been a closed herd and are continuously raising around 1,500 replacements. Kruckers are an open feed-lot type dairy, farm 250 acres and purchase almost all their feed. They sell their milk to Glanbia Foods, a local cheese processor. The Kruckers feel that the dairy producers in this country need a new organization which will only have the best interests of the dairy producer at the heart of all policies and programs. Producers need an organization which will work to ensure they receive a proper share of the retail dairy dollar. There is plenty of money in the dairy industry pie, and NDPO will work to increase the dairy producers piece of that pie.

Mr. Dennis Trissel from Harrisonburg, VA
Dennis Trissel and his wife, Beth, live on a 72-acre farm near Harrisonburg, Va. Together, they have raised three children and have a growing number of grandchildren nearby. After receiving an education in liberal arts, Trissel worked for his father until 1986. At that time, he bought the farm that was originally purchased by his grandfather in 1936. With a commitment from their son and his wife, the Trissels made a 30 percent expansion to the dairy by enlarging and updating the free stall facilities and building a close up barn. Though their Holstein herd is not registered, the Trissels are very serious about breeding for long-term qualities to include type and life expectancy for their 150-cow herd. Trissel and his son try to be as self-sufficient as possible. In an effort to keep expenses down, they maintain all of their own electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, crop care, fabrication, repair, animal husbandry, etc. The Trissel’s milk is shipped through Cooperative Milk Producers, of Blackstone Va., where Trissel resides as a director. In 2000 he started a farm machinery business, Trissel Equipment Sales, which specializes in feeding livestock and is a dealer for several factories including New Direction Equipment vertical feed mixers and Anderson hay equipment. Trissel has been oriented to community service throughout his life. As a young man, he was involved with 4-H, FFA, 4-H All Stars and National Young Farmers. He has remained active in church service, as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years, and a volunteer EMT for the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad for 13 years. He has held numerous offices in all of these organizations at many different organizational levels.
